We're shining a spotlight on four of our most talented musicians. Whether it’s full ceremony music or an upbeat cocktail hour, they are a perfect fit for any wedding.

John C. O’Leary III, Ph.D.

You read that right. John holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. He is both a pianist and neuroscientist.

He has a debut solo record called CRISPR, which is a collection of original works for piano in a variety of genres from jazz to classical to blues.

His dissertation research examines a group of proteins termed “chaperones” and their effects on the development of neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and stress-related psychiatric disorders. The depression component of his research was highlighted by the post-publication peer-reviewing agency Faculty of 1000, which places the article in the top 2% of all published articles in the biological and medical sciences.

Jaquay Pearce

Jaquay (juh-kway) was first introduced to the violin at age 7, as a student in her elementary school’s strings program, and has continued training and performing since age 16. As a solo artist, Jaquay loves to perform classical crossover selections branching into genres such as pop, rock, and R&B. She has performed for several music/art festivals such a Fringe!, and Jingle Eve, as well as corporate conventions and fashion shows.

Jaquay performs with several bands and singer-songwriters such as, EmiSunshine & The Rain, Crystal Bowersox (runner-up on American Idol) and Porter & Sayles (contestants on the Voice). 

Jaquay auditioned and became a member of the string quartet Violectric, Fretless Rock and Strings Etc. in January 2017. Jaquay and ensemble has opened for acts such as Josh Groban and Joan Jett, and has collaborated/performed with charities such as Make A Wish Foundation, The Florida Hospital Gala and One Pulse Foundation (Pulse Nightclub affiliation). 

In her spare time, Jaquay enjoys attending anything within performing arts, and has an immense love for all things Motown. Jaquay takes pride in being a left-handed violinist. 

Ben Pila

Benjamin Pila is the only classical guitarist ever named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. He’s performed extensively throughout the United States and has been a featured artist at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Lincoln Center, Washington, D.C.’s John F. Kennedy Center, and San Francisco’s Herbst Theater.

Pila is a semi-regular performer at the 9/11 Memorial Museum where he’s performed for Pope Francis, Barack Obama and George W. Bush. He’s also shared the stage with such notables as James Taylor, Paul Simon, Itzhak Pearlman, and Yo-Yo Ma. Pila’s debut CD, Commemoration, is a tribute to the survivors and victims of 9/11.

Benjamin’s playing has been featured on NBC’s Today Show and NPR’s From the Top. He was awarded ASCAP’s Best Performance of a Contemporary Work, is a YoungArts Silver Award winner, and has won prizes in the Texas International Guitar Competition and the Yamaha 6-String Theory Guitar Competition.

Benjamin received his Bachelor’s degree from Florida State University, his Master’s degree from The Juilliard School, and his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California. Dr. Pila currently lives in Tampa, Florida, teaches guitar at Polk State College, and performs and teaches across the nation.

Kyle Schroeder

Kyle Schroeder is a 24 year-old saxophonist based in the Tampa Bay Area. With a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Saxophone/Music Business from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, Kyle has been a captivating force in contemporary jazz since his start in 2013.

Kyle has had the opportunity to be featured/perform with world-class musicians including Ben Tankard, Four80East, Nick Colionne, Eric Darius, Two Friends, The Ries Brothers, Dave Liebman, John Daversa, Adam Hawley, Carl Fischer, Nathan Mitchell, and more! Kyle has also had the opportunity to play large-scale music festivals including Clearwater Jazz Holiday (3x), Sunset Music Festival, Seabreeze Jazz Festival, Miami Smooth Jazz Festival and the Monterey Next Generation Jazz Festival.

In addition to that, Kyle has most notably performed “God Bless America” for the Miami Marlins on Opening Day 2018, as well as “The Star Spangled Banner” at countless MLB games. Kyle is currently in the final stages of recording and releasing his debut album featuring Ben Tankard, Rohan Ried, and more!

 
 

A pianist who is also a neuroscientist. A classical guitarist who has performed for the Pope. A violinist who has opened for Joan Jett. And a saxophonist with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami. All the musicians with DBM are well-seasoned professionals.
